1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement between you (whether personally or on behalf of an entity) and Timesink Oy (Business ID 3658114-2, VAT FI36581142, Tampere, Finland), concerning your access to and utilization of TimesinkDB. By accessing our pre-launch materials, requesting early access credentials, or accessing the API, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Pre-Launch Reservations & Early Access: Capacity reservations and early access waitlist submissions are non-binding expressions of interest to assist in platform capacity planning. No financial charge or billing commitment is incurred during the pre-launch phase. You may cancel your reservation at any time. Commercial subscription terms, billing, and contractual SLAs take effect only upon affirmative account activation and checkout.

Upon commercial launch in October 2026, the service is offered for production and development telemetry workloads, providing high-throughput ingestion, zero-write-fee telemetry, and hardware-accelerated downsampling.

2. Account Capacity Pooling & Database Isolation

TimesinkDB operates on an Account-Level Capacity Architecture with flexible multi-database resource allocation:

  • Pooled Account Capacity: Subscriptions reserve account-level capacity (NVMe storage, monthly JSON egress, and Parallel Query Workers) that can be divided freely across independent databases (e.g. Production, Staging, QA, Dev) on multi-database plans (Pro, Scale, Dedicated, and Custom). Starter is strictly a single-database entry tier.
  • Minimum Operational Allocation: To guarantee deterministic NVMe storage isolation, dedicated API credentials, and isolated query execution queues across split environments, each database configured under multi-database pooling requires a minimum operational baseline as specified in your account plan documentation (e.g. 10 GB storage, 5 GB egress, and 2 Parallel Query Workers on standard tiers).
  • Unlimited Seats: Accounts include unlimited authorized users, administrators, and API keys ($0 per seat).

3. Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) & Storage Integrity

TimesinkDB is engineered and monetized exclusively as an append-only time-series database and telemetry store. Our commercial model offers 100% free write API calls ($0.00 transaction fee), monetizing through provisioned NVMe retention storage and uncompressed JSON egress:

Fair Use Telemetry Invariant

Utilizing TimesinkDB as an ephemeral message broker, transit queue, or transient cache via automated write-and-purge loops (such as rapid automated write calls followed by immediate deletion) to deliberately circumvent storage retention metering is strictly prohibited.

Standard data lifecycle management is executed via declarative day-granularity retention rules configured per series pattern or database, which evaluate daily in background maintenance cycles. Administrative hard-purge operations are restricted strictly to authorized administrative management actions and cannot be utilized as a programmatic substitute for provisioned capacity.

4. Over-Capacity Guardrails & Spend Safety

To eliminate unexpected bill shock, TimesinkDB enforces dual over-capacity guardrails:

  • Strict Spend Cap (Default): When provisioned storage reaches 100%, incoming writes are safely paused or rejected with a quota exceeded status. Existing historical data remains 100% queryable. Automated alerts notify account administrators prior to reaching capacity limits so you can adjust retention rules or expand capacity. Your monthly invoice is guaranteed never to exceed your configured reservation.
  • Elastic Auto-Expand (Optional): Production workloads may enable auto-expand. Influx surges draw from unallocated account plan capacity first ($0 extra), and if exhausted, automatically provision additional tiered capacity increments via our billing provider with zero ingestion downtime.

5. High-Availability SLA (99.95%), Claim Procedures & Exclusions

All paid subscription plans (Starter, Pro, Scale, Dedicated Node, and Custom) include a contractual 99.95% Monthly Availability SLA. Free Developer Sandbox databases operate on a best-effort basis without an availability guarantee.

Availability is measured exclusively by TimesinkDB’s independent third-party multi-region synthetic health probes. Unavailability explicitly excludes: (a) scheduled maintenance announced ≥48 hours in advance (capped at max 2 hours per calendar month, scheduled during off-peak weekend windows); (b) write pauses triggered by configured Strict Spend Caps or provisioned storage quotas; (c) queries terminated due to client-side timeouts, network drops, or documented query execution timeouts; (d) client-side ISP dropouts or edge connection stalls; and (e) upstream regional cloud-provider force-majeure events.

If verified monthly availability falls below 99.95%, Customer is eligible for a graduated service credit applied to their subsequent monthly renewal invoice via Paddle (or credited against the 1/12th monthly-amortized equivalent base fee for annual commitments):

  • ≥ 99.00% to < 99.95%: 10% service credit
  • ≥ 95.00% to < 99.00%: 25% service credit
  • < 95.00%: 50% service credit (maximum monthly credit ceiling)

To receive a service credit, Customer must formally submit a written claim with timestamp logs to legal@timesinkdb.com within thirty (30) calendar days of the end of the affected calendar month. Service credits constitute Customer’s sole and exclusive financial remedy. The Availability SLA governs platform availability only and does not establish a 24/7 human emergency response; customer support is provided during Finnish business hours (EET/EEST).

6. Billing, Taxes & Merchant of Record (Paddle)

Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly or annual basis (with annual subscriptions granting 2 months free). Paddle Payments Limited acts as Merchant of Record, handling global checkout, card security, and EU VAT / global sales tax remittance. All fees represent provisioned database capacity for the applicable service period.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Timesink Oy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or related to your use of TimesinkDB.

8. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms and any disputes arising from them shall be governed exclusively by the laws of Finland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding shall be instituted exclusively in the District Court of Pirkanmaa (Pirkanmaan käräjäoikeus) in Tampere, Finland.
